When Steph was designing Nova, she started by listening. After speaking with real women and conducting consumer research, she realised how often the basics get overlooked in the outerwear market. The small things that actually make a big difference like:

• High quality fabrics that actually last
• Inner linings that don’t tear after a season
• Jackets that feel comfortable, not just stylish
• Deep, functional pockets (not the shallow, decorative kind)
  
• A shape that flatters different body types
  
• Sleeves that actually cater to longer arms
  
• And buttons…that weren’t boring
  
  

All of these insights became the foundation of the Nova Jacket’s design. But one piece of feedback stuck with Steph the most: the lack of interesting buttons. It got her thinking - if Stephanie Jade London is a brand that encourages you to express your inner world through style, why not create buttons that are intentional?

That’s when the lightbulb moment happened: detachable star buttons.

These aren’t just embellishments. They’re visual cues that help reflect your inner mood - joy, confidence, tenderness, stillness or nothing at all. It’s named after Steph’s nan, Nova, not just because she has the most beautiful name but because she wants you to feel like a star.
